WORK HISTORY
IN BRIEF
October 2000/present day Freelance writer/editor
Go to my 'Editorial' page for details of the publications and websites I have written for and edited on a freelance basis.
July 2010 /April 2011 Health editor/blogger, MyDaily.co.uk/Thatsfit.co.uk
MyDaily.co.uk is a women's fashion and beauty website run by AOL, and from its launch in September 2010 until April 2011 I acted as health editor. This involved writing daily topical news stories aimed at the website's demographic (female, career-minded, average age 31 years) and also writing debate pieces and longer wellbeing features. Prior to that I blogged for thatsfit.co.uk, another AOL website that was eventually wound down after the launch of MyDaily.
March 2010 /present day Freelance editor, The Arthritic Association magazine
The Arthritic Association is a charity aimed at people suffering from arthritis who are interested in a natural, diet-based approach to managing their condition. The association was founded in the 1940s by Charles de Coti-Marsh. Its quarterly magazine, which I write and edit, is published for its members around the UK.
November 2009/present day Freelance editor, All About Health
A quarterly consumer health magazine, All About Health is published by Profile Publishing for pharmacy wholesale distributor AAH and is available in AAH pharmacies. As well as covering general health and wellbeing issues, its aim is to promote the role of the pharmacist as a healthcare professional.
December 2000/February 2004 Editor, Healthy Times (Square One Group)
Healthy Times is a pharmacy customer magazine produced for pharmacy distribution company UniChem. Its focus is on health issues that affect people who shop at pharmacies and the pharmacist’s role as a health provider. I worked as Healthy Times' editor on a freelance basis.
March 2001/June 2001 Freelance editor, Shine’s Real Health & Beauty (Attic Futura)
A sister magazine to women’s fashion and beauty glossy magazine Shine.
May 2000/October 2000 Editorial director, lookgoodfeelgood.com
During this time I worked on the development of the health, beauty and wellbeing website, headed by celebrity hairdresser Nicky Clarke.
1998/May 2000 Editor, Women’s Health (WV Publications)
After eight years as a journalist working on a variety of titles, I became launch editor of Women’s Health, a magazine for independent-minded women interested in health, beauty, sport and fitness.
